Find With Burien People Search

A name can link a Burien people search to past addresses, relatives and phone numbers, while official local and nationwide databases add the public record trail. Burien sits outside the King County seat, so the useful paths run from city files to broader county records. Together, those sources can connect a person to both present-day Highline and the community that existed before incorporation.

Burien People Records and Custodians

The main records desks sit in different cities. Seattle is the King County seat, so county land and Superior Court files do not move to Burien City Hall. The Recorder indexes deeds, liens, plats, powers of attorney and recorded marriage certificates. The Superior Court Clerk keeps the case file, including probate and larger civil matters. Burien's City Clerk keeps council, contract, planning, permit and correspondence records created or held by the city.

Burien also contracts police service from the King County Sheriff's Office. An incident or investigative file may need a county request even when the event occurred inside Burien. Detailed access rules and copy procedures belong with the Burien public records system.

Burien Name Searches in Landmark

King County Landmark is the strongest official name-first tool for a property trail. It indexes recordings from 1976 forward. Search a surname with fewer details first, then test given names, initials and proven prior names. A person may appear as grantor, the party giving an interest, or grantee, the party receiving it. Results can identify a document type, recording date, instrument number, legal description and sometimes a parcel number.

The Landmark interface shows the official routes available to a Burien searcher.

Its separate name, document, parcel, legal-description, book-and-page and recording-number modes let a researcher change tactics without leaving the county index.

Burien Deed Images Split at 1991

Landmark's date coverage hides an important break. Entries from 1976 through July 31, 1991 usually give index facts but no document image. King County Archives holds the image. Most public recordings from August 1, 1991 forward have a watermarked image online. Earlier work goes farther offline: the 1853 through 1975 grantor-grantee indexes remain on microfilm, and recorded documents survive from 1852.

This “ghost interval” explains why a name can appear online while the deed itself seems absent. Save the party name, recording number, date and legal description, then contact Archives or visit its film collection. Remote staff work best with a five-year span. Phone, mail and the Recorder counter are also valid copy routes for newer items.

Index
A finding record that points to a document but may not show its full text.
Instrument number
The recording office's unique key for a filed document.
Legal description
The lot, block, plat or survey language that identifies land, not merely its street address.
Certified copy
A custodian-issued copy bearing formal certification for an official need.

Note: “Indexed since 1976” does not mean every document image is online from that year.

Burien Address and Owner Search

King County property tools are address-first, not a broad owner-name directory. Start in Parcel Viewer with a street address, ten-character parcel number or condominium name. A selected parcel can show the taxpayer, site address, mailing address, legal description, values, sale history, building facts and links to reports. The mailing address may lead to an owner or heir, but it does not prove where that person lives.

The county map makes the address, parcel and map-selection route visible.

Burien people search using King County Parcel Viewer

Move from the parcel number to Landmark and work through deeds in date order. A seller on one deed often appears as the buyer on the prior deed. Compare the newest deed with Assessor and Treasury data because the tax roll can lag a conveyance. For occupants rather than owners, add city directories, phone books and newspaper evidence.

Use property records for lawful personal research. Never use an address trail to stalk, harass, threaten or harm a person.

Searching Burien Court Records by Name

Burien does not have a municipal court. King County District Court's Southwest division handles local limited-jurisdiction matters, including misdemeanors, infractions, protection orders and civil cases within its limits. Superior Court handles felony, probate, guardianship, family and larger civil cases. Federal matters use the Western District of Washington and PACER. The statewide Washington Courts search is a finding aid, not the official case file.

Sealed cases, adoption files, confidential name changes, protected identifiers and much juvenile material will not appear. A missing public result is not proof that no case exists.

Burien District Court Case Lookup

KCDC Case Access supports public searches by case and party information. A result may list court location, case type, party role, filing date, public charges or claims, disposition, hearings, judgments and docket activity. A docket is the court's chronological list of filings and events. It is not a narrative police report, and the clerk remains the source for certified copies.

The district portal is the direct path for many cases tied to the Burien courthouse.

If the web result is unclear, provide the clerk with the case number, full party names, approximate date and exact document sought. The courthouse counter and public terminals are important access channels, especially when an online index lacks the detail needed to separate people with similar names.

Burien Superior Court Records Trail

Probate and estate research often belongs in King County Superior Court. KC Script can reveal a case number, caption, participants, roles, case type, filing or status dates, hearings and public docket entries. A probate file may connect a deceased person with heirs, a will, property and later conveyances. Older probate indexes and cause files may instead be held by the regional archives.

KC Script is the county entry point shown here for Burien-area Superior Court research.

Anonymous access is limited to public material. Eligible parties may need identification for restricted records. Use the statewide name index to find a likely court and case number, then switch to KC Script and finally to the Clerk when a complete or certified file matters.

Note: A court-name match identifies a possible party, not a complete criminal history or a verified identity.

Finding Burien Vital Records

Vital records split by event and product. Public Health Seattle and King County issues Washington births registered from 1907 forward and qualifying King County or Seattle deaths within its stated coverage. The Washington Department of Health provides state birth and death products plus marriage and divorce certificates from 1968 forward. The King County Recorder holds the recorded marriage instrument, while the Superior Court Clerk holds the divorce decree and case file.

Washington's vital-record ordering hub routes applicants to the current forms.

Certified birth and death copies require an eligible applicant, identification and proof of relationship or authority. Informational products are available for certain records but are not legal certificates. Marriage and divorce certificates do not carry the same kinship barrier. The state base product fee is $25, with possible method or service charges.

Burien Historical Records by the Numbers

Washington State Digital Archives fills several gaps that modern portals cannot. Its King County collections list 19,663 early births from 1891 to 1907, 16,988 deaths for the same span, 6,252 naturalizations from 1906 to 1920, and a county marriage index with 10,507 entries from 1853 to 1900. Those totals describe collections, not Burien residents alone, but they show why a county-wide name search can work when a city-only query does not.

Historical access also follows statutory cutoffs. Birth and fetal-death records transfer after 100 years, while death, marriage and divorce records transfer after 25 years under RCW 43.07.310. Images may be online or may require an archives request. Current certified records still follow eligibility rules.

King County's oldest reported surviving government record is the 1853 marriage of David Denny and Louisa Boren. Burien city files, by contrast, begin with incorporation in 1993. County and Highline sources therefore carry most earlier lives.

Highline Names Broaden Burien Searches

A literal “Burien” search can miss a person whose record was cataloged under Highline, Sunnydale, Seahurst, White Center or unincorporated King County. Boulevard Park and southern North Highline need special care around the 2010 annexation. Lake Burien, Gregory Heights, Chelsea Park and Olde Burien also surface in directories, school files, property histories and newspapers. Search the institution and neighborhood that existed at the time.

The Highline Heritage Museum joins an obituary index with oral histories, yearbooks, school photographs, clippings, personal papers and Highline Times material. KCLS holds regional databases and film, while the Burien branch has the system's largest Northwest Collection. Washington State Library has Burien volumes for 1962-63, 1967-68 and 1970-75, followed by Seattle Suburban South runs through 1991.

Use proven maiden names, compound surnames, initials and OCR variants. A yearbook or oral history can suggest relatives and dates, but an underlying certificate, deed or court file should support a formal fact.

Burien Jail and Custody Search

The King County Subject Lookup is the county channel for published booking information. Its search filters and sortable results help distinguish a booking trail from court and state-custody records. Washington Department of Corrections has a separate incarcerated-person search for people in state custody. The two systems cover different populations and should not be treated as one complete record.

The county's interface shows the current subject-lookup route used for Burien-related bookings.

Burien people search with King County jail Subject Lookup

A booking result is not a conviction. Match the identity carefully, then use the listed court and case number to find public docket information. Medical details, youth records and exempt investigative material remain restricted. For a file beyond the published fields, send a focused request to the jail, court or law-enforcement custodian.

Note: County jail data, state prison data and court outcomes are distinct records with different keepers.

Burien Voter Lookup Boundaries

VoteWA is a personal portal, not an open resident browser. It requires the voter's exact first name, last name and full date of birth. A match can supply personal registration and ballot services. Public voter-list fields are available through a separate state request process, but RCW 29A.08.720 limits voter-registration lists to political purposes. Protected voter and Address Confidentiality Program location data is withheld.

Washington does not register voters by party, and participation data never reveals a ballot choice. Old King County registers can be richer than the modern file, sometimes listing occupation, birthplace, residence duration and naturalization data. Historical registers and cancelled cards are held by the regional archives. The full record-set treatment appears in Burien voter registration records.

Official and Commercial People Searches

Official indexes are tied to a named custodian and record series. They show what the agency recorded, preserve dates and document keys, and offer a route to a certified copy. Commercial compilations may combine phone, address and public-record data, but they can lag updates, merge two people or charge for facts available free from government. Suppressing a commercial profile does not remove the source deed, docket or license.

Search sourceMain strengthMain limit

Washington has no universal law that erases ordinary name and address data from every commercial broker. Use each service's own suppression process, share no more proof than needed, keep the confirmation and check again later.

When Burien Records Stop Online

“Not online” can mean office-only, archived, restricted or never indexed. For city files, Burien's online form was reported unavailable on the research date, so the current fillable PDF can be emailed to pro@burienwa.gov or delivered to City Hall. Name an existing record series, date range, person, address, permit, project or case. Under RCW 42.56.520, the city must respond within five business days by producing or linking the record, giving a reasonable estimate, seeking clarification or denying with an explanation. That is an initial response, not a completion promise.

For land, use the Recorder counter, phone, mail or Archives. For courts, use the Burien courthouse or Superior Court Clerk. Vital records accept approved mail and vendor routes. Elections provides phone, counter and records-request channels. KCLS, the Highline Heritage Museum, Washington State Library and the regional archives can identify the exact old file to request, although they do not certify government records.

Inspection is often free under the Public Records Act. Copies, certificates and special products may have their own fees. Narrow requests reach useful records faster and reduce the chance of clarification.

Burien Privacy Changes the Trail

Washington's Address Confidentiality Program began in 1991 and was the first state program of its kind. Eligible participants use a substitute Olympia address for new records, and agencies generally accept it under chapter 40.24 RCW. The program protects location information prospectively. It does not erase information released before enrollment, and a missing address may show the protection working as intended.

Other limits are source-specific. Certified birth and death records have eligibility checks. Court seals and adoption rules govern restricted files. Voter lists exclude full birth dates, signatures, identity numbers and protected addresses. Driver data remains subject to federal law. A public field does not grant permission to stalk, threaten, dox, deceive or bypass a protection program.

Use records to reconnect with relatives, settle an estate, verify a seller, study family history or understand local civic life. Confirm sensitive facts with the custodian, and share only what the lawful purpose needs.
