Burien people directories list different groups, not one complete population. City pages identify departments, elected officials, and appointed boards. County and state systems route current public contacts. Education tools cover Highline institutions. Recorded-party indexes, parcel rolls, voter data, business filings, and license systems act as narrower directories tied to a public role or event. Printed volumes, news film, and museum indexes preserve past names.

Choose by the relationship being checked. Search a public role in the relevant agency directory, an educator under the school or college, a recorded land party in Landmark, and a current taxpayer by address or parcel number. For a past resident, start with the year and period place name. Highline, Seahurst, White Center, or Seattle Suburban South may be the useful label.

Burien Government Directory Routes

Burien does not publish a central employee-name search. The city department directory routes readers to current offices, while council and commission pages identify seven at-large council positions and appointed members. Meeting Center packets can preserve former members, speakers, applicants, and organization representatives long after a current roster changes.

This layout works best when the department is known. If the person is absent, call the department's main number or the City Clerk rather than assume the role never existed. City Hall records begin with Burien's 1993 incorporation, so older civic names may belong in King County or Highline collections.

Burien County Employee Directories

The King County directory separates Services, Groups, and Employees. An employee result can expose an official name, title, phone, and work location. Group and service pages may add a department address, fax, instructions, and named staff. Those distinct modes help when a surname query fails but the service or unit is known.

Washington's employee contact tool adds last name, first name, and agency fields. Because it has sometimes returned a role-access error, browse the agency directory or call 800-321-2808 as the fallback. Current work contact fields should be dated and rechecked.

Highline Directories Near Burien

Highline College's staff directory is the region's richest education search, although the campus is in Des Moines. A-Z tabs support browsing. The form also accepts last and first name, each with starts-with or contains matching. This is a directory of institutional roles, not evidence that a listed person lives in Burien.

A sample entry can include a photograph, full name, title, department or program, room, mailstop, work phone, institutional email, and linked profile. Highline Public Schools takes a different route. Browse by school or department, add a surname, and confirm the current contact on that school's page; no rich districtwide staff search was verified.

Burien Public Record Directories

Several public files work like focused people directories. King County Landmark lists grantors, grantees, and other recorded parties from 1976 forward. Search controls include surname, first name, party role, instrument type, date, parcel, legal description, book and page, or recording number. General name indexes from 1853 through 1975 remain on microfilm at King County Archives.

The property roll is address-first. King County's Assessor and Parcel Viewer accept an address, parcel or tax account, condominium or property name, or a map selection, but not an owner-name query. The result may name a taxpayer and mailing address. It does not prove occupancy or current legal title. Start with Landmark when only a name is known; start with the parcel tools when the address is known.

Washington voter data is another restricted-use directory. It covers active registered voters through a monthly extract, carries no party field, and remains bound by its political-purpose rule after delivery. The exact voter-file limits belong with Burien voter registration records, not a general name browse.

Burien License Directory Searches

Professional directories answer whether a person or organization held a regulated role. Washington's DOL lookup searches by name, license number, type, and location. The WSBA Legal Directory uses first and last name, license type, advanced criteria, or a license number. L&I Verify accepts an account number, contractor number, UBI, or partial business or owner name. Each publishes only the fields tied to its own regulatory scope.

DOH consolidated provider, facility, and construction-review searches into HELMS in March 2026, adding broader queries, endorsements, and enforcement counts. Nursing-assistant regulation moved to the Board of Nursing in July 2026. Record the date and search the correct regulator because an expired or closed entry remains useful history but does not show current authority.

Burien Business People Directories

The Corporations and Charities Filing System accepts a business name or UBI. Advanced controls add entity status and type, formation or expiration dates, registered agent, and governor. Filing documents are especially useful because they preserve dated officer, governor, or agent changes that a current summary can hide.

Washington Department of Revenue business records add trade names, public owner names, business or mailing addresses, UBI, industry codes, and opening or closing dates when applicable. Discover Burien is different. Its directory covers more than 150 voluntary member businesses and nonprofits; a profile may contain a name, address, site, map, and social links. Membership is selective, so a no-result cannot establish that a business did not operate.

Reconcile the legal entity, trade name, state filing, license, city endorsement, and parcel. Each can identify a different responsible person or address at a different date. The filings form a directory of roles, not a complete list of everyone who worked at a location.

Printed Burien People Directories

The Washington State Library holds Burien volumes for 1962-63, 1967-68, and 1970-75. The title then changes to Seattle Suburban South for 1976-83, 1985, 1987, and 1991. Seahurst appears in the suburban run, while White Center spans Burien and suburban coverage. That title shift is not proof that a resident disappeared.

A directory reflects one publication period, not continuous residence.

Washington State Library restricted ordinary walk-in access in July 2025, with limited Thursday-afternoon appointments after funding cuts. Call before travel. Ask whether a volume contains a reverse section because the official holdings list does not specify that feature for each title.

Highline History Directory Indexes

King County Library System genealogy resources support database, film, and reference searching. Burien Library houses the system's largest Northwest Collection. Its film runs include the Highline Times from 1954 through January 28, 1998, Pacific Search from October 1966 through September 1973, Argus from 1964 through 1968, and the Seattle Times from July 1970 through February 1997.

One exact gap matters: the KCLS Seattle Times film omits April 16 through April 30, 1975. A missing mention during those dates needs another newspaper or repository. Event indexes also differ from resident lists. An obituary, article, or clipping records a moment, not a full population.

Highline Heritage Museum adds obituary indexes, oral histories, school yearbooks and photos, newspaper clippings, personal papers, film, and Highline Times holdings. Its Annex Story Project follows one site through four identities over about 80 years: Chelsea Park Elementary, Highline Community Center, Burien Community Center, and Burien Annex. Searching all four names can surface different people records.

When Burien Directories Run Out

No authoritative current residential white-pages directory was verified for Burien. The research also found no public congregation, union, alumni, or neighborhood membership roster, and no consolidated funeral-home index. Those gaps should remain gaps. A commercial compilation cannot replace an official or archival source and may merge people with similar names.

Use the holding institution instead. KCLS can search databases and microfilm. The Museum can check a named finding aid by appointment. Washington State Library holds exact printed volumes. Puget Sound Regional Archives in Bellevue offers appointment research for census, probate, assessment, property cards, voter registers, and recording indexes. Provide a full or variant name, address or neighborhood, school or organization, and an estimated decade.

Cross-check at least two independent official or archival sources before merging same-name entries. Cite the directory title, year, and page for history. For a current contact, preserve the access date and confirm the agency role because public rosters change often.
